With a new pic on Instagram stories seemingly of her ring boots, fans were quick to hopefulness that AJ Lee was teasing a WWE in-ring return.

Since the return of CM Punk to WWE, it has become more abundantly clear than ever that when it comes to returning to the company, perhaps one can never say never.

One person who continues to maintain that they’re retired from in-ring competition, despite being frequently named as both a dream opponent and inspiration to today’s stars, is Punk’s real life wife, AJ Mendez.

Formerly known as AJ Lee in her time in WWE, she has since gone on to work in other aspects of show business including being an executive producer and commentator in WOW (Women of Wrestling).

However when Mendez posted a series of photos from her 2023 highlights to her IG stories, the one that caught the most attention was a shot that appeared to be in-ring gear.

While she wrote alongside a video clip of her in the ring with her husband, she said she ‘bumped for Phil’ and the Starz show Heelz, she also noted she ‘went back into retirement’.

We won’t give up hope AJ!

Someone else who perhaps is supportive of the idea? CM Punk himself who commented: “You’ve still got it ❤️”

Someone else who has cited AJ Lee as a huge inspiration is NXT star Cora Jade who has been spotted backstage at the Performance Center with CM Punk.
