Anthony Bowens says he wants to be AEW’s first gay world champion.
The Acclaimed of Anthony Bowens and Max Caster have become one of the most popular acts in the entire wrestling business since aligning with “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn in 2022.
The duo won the AEW World Tag Team Championships last year and later won the AEW World Trios Championships alongside Daddy Ass at AEW All In London.
Bowens, an accomplished in-ring performer, has also been vocal about his representation of the LGBTQ+ community in wrestling.
Speaking with Out, Bowens discussed his aspirations to become AEW’s first gay world champion. He said:
“I would love to become AEW’s first gay World Champion. I got the Tag Team titles checked off the list, but there hasn’t been a gay World Champion. I would also like to be a Grand Slam champion, too.”
Anthony Bowens isn’t the only member of the AEW roster to openly be part of the LGBTQ+ community. Nyla Rose is a transgender woman and the first transgender world champion of a major American promotion.
Diamante and Kiera Hogan are openly gay, while referee Aubrey Edwards identifies as bisexual.
