Backstage Reaction To MJF Pipe Bomb On AEW Dynamite AEW

MJF took wrestling fans by storm last night as he cut a wild promo which ended in him calling his boss Tony Khan “a f***ing mark”.

After MJF cut a wild promo on last night’s (June 1) episode of AEW Dynamite, fans weren’t just left wondering what was real and what was fake but also, what did the rest of the AEW locker room know about the topic?

According to a new report from Fightful Select (paid subscription required), there is a variety of reactions coming from the sources they spoke to in the locker room regarding the entire situation.

With responses ranging from “it’s always been a work on MJF’s side” to “well, it’s definitely a work now,” the AEW locker room had quite a lot to say to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful it seems after mum had been the word on the situation over the weekend.

An interesting sentiment was from one talent in particular who said they would be frustrated for many reasons if they learned that the situation had been a work over the weekend for several reasons including that other talent scheduled for that Meet & Greet timeslot subsequently had to stay longer to make it up to fans who were forced to select a different line due to MJF not appearing as scheduled.

Other tales from backstage debunked the myth that MJF was constantly in character, with one talent specifically saying,”If he acted like MJF all the time, he probably wouldn’t still be working here.” It was noted that he had experienced a general shift over this Spring with him seemingly “more frustrated” than in the past.

Additionally, a pervasive thought from talent seemed to be that there would seem to be no way that Tony Khan would allow air this promo “on television without a payoff or a plan.”
