Backstage News On WWE Stipulation For Cody Rhodes Vs Brock Lesnar At SummerSlam WWE

An update has emerged on rumors about a stipulation for the Cody Rhodes vs Brock Lesnar match set for SummerSlam 2023.

At the August 5 event, Rhodes and Lesnar will clash for the third time this year, with Cody pinning Brock at Backlash, and The Beast forcing the American Nightmare to pass out at Night of Champions.

While previous reports indicated that a stipulation could be added to the match, the bout is just being promoted as a normal singles bout at the time of writing.

Fightful Select now reports rumors that a dog collar match was considered for the bout have been shot down, with WWE sources confirming that the idea of a stipulation for Rhodes vs Lesnar III was ‘never in the cards’.

The report noted that the furthest discussions went involved WWE agreeing that the match didn’t need a stipulation, so the topic wasn’t brought up again.

When Fightful specifically asked about a dog collar bout, it was indicated to them that this had never been discussed.

Several other matches at SummerSlam will have stipulations, with the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship bout between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso set to be contested under ‘Tribal Combat’ rules.

Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey are also set to face off in an MMA Rules match.
