Leaving the night on a cliffhanger, a main roster free agent attacked an NXT Champion to end tonight’s edition of WWE NXT (May 30).
After there was already one main roster surprise of the night, another popped by in the closing moments of the show.
After Carmelo Hayes bested Naom Dar (despite copious chicanery at ringside, including but not limited to a run out attack on Oro Mensah by Tyler Bate and Dragon Lee) it seemed that the NXT Champion had finished his night.
However that was not destined to be the case, as he was shocked by an attack from a main roster star who appeared from out of nowhere!
Baron Corbin ran out to attack Carmelo Hayes after his successful NXT Championship title defense.
The show ended with not only Hayes eating Corbin’s finisher the End of Days, also Baron Corbin standing tall over a motionless Carmelo Hayes, holding the NXT Championship high.
Is this the next feud for Carmelo Hayes for the WWE NXT Championship? We’ll have to continue to stay tuned on Tuesdays on USA Network to NXT to find out.
Carmelo Hayes retained his WWE NXT Championship at this past Sunday’s NXT Battleground premium live event.
Corbin wasn’t the only main roster star on tonight’s NXT as Mustafa Ali appeared too, with both of them touted as being able to appear on NXT due to being “free agents” after the recent WWE Draft.
