WWE star Becky Lynch has commented on Mercedes Mone’s AEW contract after details of her salary emerged recently.
Mercedes Mone has signed an AEW contract that reportedly makes her the “top-paid female performer” in the history of wrestling.
As previously reported, it was stated by PWInsider that “multiple sources from both WWE and AEW that both companies were willing to commit to ‘eight figure’ deals” for the former Sasha Banks.
Speaking to the Orlando Sentinel, Becky Lynch revealed the importance of Mone’s deal, saying:
“I think that’s an important part, getting paid equally for the equal work and the equal position we are at right now.
“Women’s evolutions and revolutions are fine and well, but making sure that they equate to contracts and financial reward for these things, when we are doing equal work, is hugely important.”
Mone made her much-anticipated AEW debut at Dynamite: Big Business on March 13, 2024.
In attendance for the Boston AEW Dynamite special were Bayley, Naomi and Tamina, all of whom were thanked by Mone on social media.
At WrestleMania 40 on April 6 & 7, Lynch faces Rhea Ripley for the WWE World Women’s Championship.
The March 25 episode of WWE Raw saw Lynch and Ripley come face to face, with Mami’s words leading to a violent response from The Man.
Lynch has recently expressed her preference for where her match should appear on the two night PLE card.
