Who Was Behind New-Style WWE Backstage Segments Revealed WWE

More information on the new-style WWE backstage segments airing in recent weeks, and who was behind them, has been revealed.

The Kevin Dunn era of WWE production officially came to an end on January 1, when Dunn left the company after over 40 years as the head of production.

Since Dunn’s departure, gradual differences in the show’s production have been noticed, including recent backstage segments on Raw and SmackDown.

The first video featured Piper Niven and Chelsea Green arriving at a nightclub to confront Kayden Carter and Katana Chance, while the other aired on last Friday’s SmackDown between Butch and Tyler Bate, which many thought were similar to those that air in NXT.

Per Fightful Select (subscription required), the comparisons to NXT are very accurate, with Triple H allowing Jeremy Borash to put together a team in NXT over the past three years safely under the radar of Kevin Dunn.

Triple H was said to have been happy with how the segments played out, and with Dunn now gone from the company, there is said to be a door open to feature more promos of a similar style across all WWE shows.

Fightful spoke to several people associated with the promos that spoke highly of the new process and freedom to them, with one source noting that, under Dunn, the segment would have likely cut away to several different things, but the new method allowed the characters breathe and the segment play out.

Both segments were said to have been largely positively received internally.
