UPDATE – Andrade El Idolo was sent home from tonight’s AEW Dynamite taping after a backstage incident with Sammy Guevara – read more here.
A huge match has been scrapped from this Friday’s AEW Rampage from Washington, D.C.
On the September 30 edition of AEW Rampage, Andrade El Idolo challenged Dark Order’s 10 to a match with his mask on the line on the October 7 live edition of Rampage. 10 accepted on one condition that Andrade must leave All Elite Wrestling if he loses.
El Idolo has recently found himself in the headlines after comments from an interview led to a social media beef breaking out between Andrade and Sammy Guevara, which you can read here.
It seems like this blowup may have consequences on the on-screen product for the company.
AEW owner and CEO Tony Khan took to Twitter to announce that the Andrade vs. 10 match has been removed from this Friday’s live Rampage.
In its place, the Dark Order will face Death Triangle for the AEW World Trios Championship on the show.
Friday’s bout @Pres10Vance vs @AndradeElIdolo is off. We’ll still celebrate the anniversary of @ThisBrodieLee‘s final match at #AEWRampage as 10 will get the shot he missed at All Out:
World Trios Championship Death Triangle vs Dark Order
See you tonight for #AEWDynamite on TBS
It remains to be seen what this means for Andrade’s future in All Elite Wrestling.
As previously mentioned, Andrade El Idolo has been continuing to tease his departure from AEW over the past few weeks.
This Friday’s Rampage will celebrate the two year anniversary of Dark Order leader Brodie Lee’s final match prior to his passing. The show will be live from Washington, D.C. with AEW Battle of the Belts IV following the episode.
