Earlier today, it was reported that Pat McAfee had signed a full-time deal with ESPN to appear as part of their ‘College GameDay’ show for the college football season.
With the news, McAfee is set to go on a temporary departure from WWE SmackDown commentary, with him set to return when the college football season is over.
With the news of McAfee’s absence, fans have already begun speculation as to who could replace him next to Michael Cole at the announce desk on Friday nights, with names like Corey Graves, JBL and Nigel McGuinness being mentioned.
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, who has a lot of experience at the announce desk in WWE, took to Twitter after the announcement, posting a gif of himself on commentary, seemingly teasing that he would be stepping in in McAfee’s absence.
