Brock Lesnar Breaks CM Punk’s Record Title Reign

Brock Lesnar Breaks CM Punk’s Record Title Reign

Yesterday, Brock Lesnar reached 435 days as WWE Universal Champion.

This milestone makes him the longest-tenured world champion of the modern era, passing CM Punk’s 434 days with the WWE Championship, which he held from November of 2011 until January of 2013.

Lesnar won the title at WrestleMania 33, defeating Goldberg to start his reign.

If the rumors are to be believed, he will hold it at least two more months. Reports are saying that despite his last match occurring all the way back at the Greatest Royal Rumble in April, he won’t have another defense of his championship until August’s SummerSlam.

Even though this historic reign is currently the sixth longest ever in the WWE, it is not without its critics.

During his 13-month run with the title, CM Punk defended his championship 141 times including dark matches.

Lesnar has defended his title 10 times.

Lesnar’s appearances, whether at pay-per-views, Raw, or even house shows, pale in comparison to almost every other WWE wrestler during this era.

Whichever side of the fence you stand on when it comes to the ‘Beast Incarnate,’ there is no arguing that he has dominated when he actually steps inside the squared circle and that his name to sure to remain atop the history books for a long time to come.
