Carmelo Hayes Discusses Working With Seth Rollins & Finn Balor WWE

Carmelo Hayes has discussed working with Seth Rollins and Finn Balor.

On the June 20 edition of WWE NXT, Seth Rollins defeated Bron Breakker to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. Following his win, Finn Balor attacked Rollins until NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams made the save.

Earlier in the night, Rollins had a backstage confrontation with Hayes where they showed mutual respect for one another.

On the June 26 episode of WWE Raw, Rollins invited Melo to the show where he got into a confrontation with Finn Balor, which led to a match later that night. Balor defeated Hayes in Melo’s first main roster match.

On a recent appearance on WWE’s The Bump, Carmelo Hayes revealed that his recent interactions with Rollins “came out of nowhere.” He said:

“To be able to associate myself with the World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins so soon has been an honor and a privilege.”

“To have somebody like that have my back [is gratifying] and that’s why you saw me having his back on Monday, just because he spoke so highly of me. I had to reciprocate and have his back as well. It’s been an honor more than anything to work with Seth.”

When asked to reflect on his main roster debut against Balor, Hayes answered:

“It’s wild because I assumed it would be a lot further down the road that I was gonna mix it up with these guys,”

“It really was me getting thrown into the deep end, and to be in there with Finn Balor, an incredible performer with so many accolades … you know people were [complaining] about the loss, but the end of the day, it’s Finn Balor.”

“I gave my best efforts. Give me a couple of years or months, and let’s crack it again and we’ll see if the outcome will be different.”

Carmelo Hayes last wrestled in a win over Baron Corbin for the NXT Championship on the June 27 Gold Rush Week Two edition of WWE NXT.
