Former ROH Owner Is Disappointed That Tony Khan Underusing Jay Lethal AEW

Former Ring of Honor owner Cary Silkin has described Tony Khan’s use of former ROH world champion Jay Lethal as “disappointing.”

Jay Lethal is currently the longest reigning ROH World Champion in the title’s history when looking at combined reigns. He held the gold on two occasions for a combined 707 days.

Silkin has not been impressed with how Jay Lethal has been used since Khan acquired the promotion in March.

Speaking during an appearance on Ringsiders Wrestling, Silkin said:

“I’m really disappointed (for) (Jay) Lethal. There’s another guy that would (work) tremendously for a regular Ring of Honor brand because, I’m sorry Tony Khan, but man is he underused.”

In addition to holding the world championship, Jay Lethal also held the ROH Pure and the World Television titles as well as the World Tag Team Championship with Jonathan Gresham.

Lethal has yet to win any AEW gold, and has only won a handful of singles matches on Dynamite and Rampage since joining the promotion in November 2021.

Outside of AEW, Jay Lethal notably took part in Ric Flair’s last match, teaming with Jeff Jarrett against Flair and Andrade El Idolo.

He is also set to face another wrestling legend, Ricky Steamboat, in his in-ring wrestling return in a tag match for Big Time Wrestling, which you can read more about right here.

Chris Jericho currently holds the Ring of Honor title after winning the gold from Claudio Castagnoli on September 21. Jericho has vowed to ‘desecrate’ the ROH legacy and as many former champions as he can face.

Jericho is tag-teaming with Sammy Guevara in a match against previous ROH champion Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia at the AEW Dynamite Anniversary show on October 5, 2022.
