According to an SEScoops report, Jim Ross and Chris Jericho are working in partnership with the billionaire Khan family to start a new wrestling promotion. Shahid Khan is already the owner of some major sports businesses in the NFL‘s Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham FC of the English Premier League. Shahid’s son Tony is apparently a big wrestling fan and has been quite hands-on with the project.
Jericho is reportedly utilizing his contacts with New Japan Pro Wrestling, with the likes of Bullet Club members Cody and the Young Bucks on board with the project. It has been reported recently that many NJPW stars are unhappy in the promotion at present.
JR, on the other hand, is said to have been sending out feelers to potential WWE talent that may want to be a part of the project. He and Jericho have been working with agent Barry Bloom, who boasts the one and only Bill Goldberg among his clientele.
In terms of a TV broadcast deal, talks are reportedly underway with AXS TV, which actually already broadcasts some NJPW matches, though company officials are denying the talks. Sinclair Broadcasting aided with the production of All In in September and are remaining quiet about the situation.
The current timeline for the launch of the promotion is 12-16 months, which would make it live in late 2019/early 2020.
