Clarification On Chris Jericho AEW Contract Details AEW

More details of Chris Jericho’s AEW contract have emerged as he steps up his role in the company beyond in-ring competitor.

As reported in Variety, Jericho had signed a three-year contract extension, with Tony Khan noting:

“In expanding his responsibilities, he’ll continue to serve as a valuable leader with our roster having the opportunity to utilize one of most creative minds in the history of wrestling.”

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer provided further insight into the contract arrangements, clarifying:

“Everything is basically correct what we said, the only difference is that I said Jericho had a three-year contract and a two-year option – and in fact, he did not have a two-year option.

“What happened was… we all thought this is his second contract, it’s actually his third. He had signed a contract in 2019, he had it negotiated in 2020. So, he was on the second contract as opposed to an option.

“So it all ends up the same, he’s still under contract until January 2026 on his new three-year contract that goes into effect in January.

“So essentially, everything was correct, other than, just to be completely technically correct, it was not an option that was picked up, it was a second contract.”
