A new report has seemingly revealed the ranking for CM Punk on AEW’s merchandise top sellers list.
There was a great deal of turmoil surrounding CM Punk’s status in All Elite Wrestling heading into 2023 after the fallout from All Out 2022.
On September 2, AEW announced that Punk’s contract with the promotion had been terminated “with cause” following a backstage incident at AEW All In London.
Despite just coming back in June from his suspension, it seems that the former two-time AEW World Champion made a significant impact on the merchandise sales for the company.
On November 5, Wrestlenomics released the estimated merchandise rankings for both WWE and AEW for 2023 so far.
For AEW’s 2023 rankings, CM Punk is #2 on the top sellers list behind the AEW promotion itself. The rest of the top 10 for AEW includes The Acclaimed, Orange Cassidy, The Elite, Kenny Omega, MJF & Adam Cole, FTR, MJF and Danhausen.
Meanwhile, WWE’s top 10 includes Cody Rhodes as #1, followed by Stone Cold Steve Austin, Roman Reigns, John Cena, LA Knight, nWo, WWE, Eddie Guerrero, Rhea Ripley and The Usos.
Responding to his ranking on this list, Punk took to his Instagram story to repost the list and wrote:
“Meeting with Phil Zacko and Jack Tunney at the China club, brother.”
This seems to be another reference to Punk’s reputation in AEW being similar to that of Hulk Hogan’s.
