CM Punk has compared “The Devil” character in AEW to a WCW character.
On September 2, All Elite Wrestling announced that they had terminated the contract of CM Punk “with cause” after a backstage physical incident at AEW All In London.
Despite leaving the promotion, Punk hasn’t been shy to make reference to or joke about certain things going on in his former employer.
Taking to his Instagram story, Punk shared a photo of “The Black Scorpion” and asked ” who was behind the mask”, which seemingly makes reference to the rumors that he could become “The Devil.”
On the November 8 edition of AEW Dynamite, “The Devil” sent his army to beat down The Acclaimed and “Daddy Ass’ Billy Gunn to close the show.
Meanwhile, a new report has revealed the current backstage belief within WWE about a potential CM Punk return to the company, which you can read here.
CM Punk continues to be a strong merch seller for AEW despite being fired from the company in September 2023 and being inactive for the majority of the year before that.
