CM Punk Teases WWE Star With Hilarious Callback To Their Feud

AEW star CM Punk has replied to a top WWE star’s recent social media post with an excellent callback to a memorable rivalry over a decade prior.

Despite not being on the best terms with his son Dominik, Rey Mysterio does at least have his daughter Aalyah, and in celebration of his daughter’s 22nd birthday, the Hall of Famer took to Instagram to send a heartfelt message to his youngest child.

What Rey may have not expected however was one of his old rivals CM Punk to jump into the comments to also wish Aalyah the best on her special day, even less to ‘sing’ happy birthday to her.

In what is in-fact an excellent call-back to the March 12, 2010 edition of SmackDown, where Punk confronted Rey in front of his entire family and later sang happy birthday to a nine-year-old Aalyah in menacing fashion.

Amusingly this is not the first time that Punk has made reference to the memorable rivalry between the two, as in the lead up to Rey’s match with Dominik at WrestleMania 39 where Rey finally snapped and hit his son, Punk said:

Good for you Rey, I’ve wanted to punch him for 13 years!

Punk and Rey engaged in three different pay-per-view matches in early 2010 during Punk’s Straight-Edge Society run with the final match coming at Over The Limit in May of that year with a ‘Pledge vs Hair’ stipulation.
