Cody Rhodes First WWE Match Since The Rock Incident Confirmed

Cody Rhodes First WWE Match Since The Rock Incident Confirmed WWE

The first TV match for Cody Rhodes after he was slapped in front of the world by The Rock was announced on tonight’s WWE Raw.

On tonight’s WWE Raw (February 12), the next match for Cody Rhodes on his ‘Road to WrestleMania’ was revealed.

Earlier in the show, Rhodes had an in-ring segment interrupted by Seth Rollins who extended an offer of protection for Cody ahead of WrestleMania 40.

Noting his history with Roman Reigns, Rollins noted that he was uniquely suited to ‘shield’ Rhodes from Reigns.

In a backstage segment with Drew McIntyre later on, McIntyre revealed that next week on WWE Raw he would be having a match against Cody Rhodes.

Also in a backstage segment, Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes hugged, and later, Zayn was shown having a contemptuous exchange with Cody’s future opponent, McIntyre.

All three men converged during the main event, as McIntyre cost Zayn a match against Shinsuke Nakamura, after which Cody came out to save Zayn from a two-on-one beatdown.

It’s worth noting that Rhodes did have an untelevised match against Solo Sikoa after SmackDown on February 9, but the match against McIntyre will be his first on broadcast since the WrestleMania Kickoff event.

Elsewhere confirmed for next week’s episode (February 19), an Intercontinental Championship match for the longest reigning champ in the title’s history, GUNTHER.

Next week on WWE Raw, Jey Uso looks to end GUNTHER’s historic reign after the trio of Uso and the New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) bested Imperium with Uso pinning Giovanni Vinci tonight.

Also announced for the show, a last chance battle royal for the final women’s Elimination Chamber spot featuring Shayna Baszler, Michin, Zoey Stark, Shotzi or Tiffany Stratton, Naomi or Zelina Vega, and others.
