Cody Rhodes and Gunther have exchanged their final words with each other ahead of their match at WWE Clash In Italy.
WWE is set to host it’s first premium live event in Italy this Sunday, when WWE Clash In Italy comes to Turin.
The show will feature four championship matches, including an Undisputed WWE Championship match, with Cody Rhodes defending the title against Gunther.
Gunther Calls Cody Rhodes The ‘Crumbling American Dream’
On tonight’s WWE SmackDown in Barcelona, Cody and Gunther met face to face for the final time ahead of the match.
Gunther would call Cody the ’embodiment of the crumbling American Dream’, and claim he was handed everything with one phone call, including his return to the company.
He said:
“What they told me as a boy is, if you want to max out your life you have to leave home behind, move to America and through hard work and sacrifice you can achieve it all. I’ve done that. I earned the position I’m in.
“But as for you, everything was one phone call away. You wanted to train as a wrestler? One phone call. You wanted a contract with WWE? One phone call. You left and wanted to come back to WWE, I bet that was one phone call.
“And all of that Cody I think makes you a little entitled brat!”

Cody Rhodes Says Gunther Is ‘Just As Sick As I Am’ With WWE Championship Addiction
Cody would fire back at Gunther after Gunther mentioned that he didn’t ‘want’ to be WWE Champion, he needed to be to prove he is the best.
Cody said that Gunther clearly did want it otherwise he would still be looking at a 330lb version of him at an independent show, and that at Clash In Italy, he will learn the worst thing a ‘pure wrestler’ can ever find out.
He said:
“I’m gonna tell you right now, it’s that (being WWE Champion) is addictive, and you are just as sick as I am. At Clash in Italy, you’re gonna get THIS close to finding all that attention that you seek, and you know it, don’t you lie to me, but you’re gonna get this close and find out the worst thing that a pure wrestler, a sporting wrestler like you could ever find out, and it’s simple; you’re just not that good…”

Gunther Promises To Choke Out Cody Rhodes At Clash In Italy
Gunther would get the final word in on Cody, saying that he promised to choke out Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles and did just that, and he promised to do the same to Cody on Sunday.
He said:
“You think I’m a liar? I promised Bill Goldberg I would choke him out, and I did. I promised AJ Styles that I would choke him out, and I did. I promised your big role model and hero John Cena that I would make him tap out, and I did!
“Now, I’m promising you, that on Sunday, I’m gonna choke you out, I’m gonna drop you like a wet towel, I’m gonna take this precious prize with me!”
