Cody Rhodes NXT ‘Major Announcements’ Revealed

Cody Rhodes came to WWE NXT with big announcements for the future of NXT on October 10 as the show went head-to-head with AEW Dynamite.

Rhodes came prepared to make several revelations related to the future of the brand, namely big opportunities for NXT stars.

Revealing that in addition to the already announced Women’s Breakout Tournament, NXT was on the hunt for the next big male star as well.

Cody Rhodes announced that there will be an NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament coming soon as well.

When Cody said he had more announcements, it seemed that the crowd caught on to what he may say next and began chanting, “Dusty!”

Cody Rhodes was able to confirm that The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic is also coming back to NXT.

However, he had one more surprise announcement to kick off the show: Cody isn’t just here to make announcements, he’s the special guest General Manager of NXT all night!

However he was shortly thereafter interrupted by Ilja Dragunov who came out to show some appreciation for the American Nightmare.

Noting that he was inspired by Rhodes, the niceties didn’t last long as the pair were interrupted by Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley from the Judgment Day.

After a terse exchange, special guest GM Rhodes confirmed an NXT Championship match tonight with Ilja Dragunov defending his title and thereby getting his hands on Dominik Mysterio.

Sweetening the deal, Rhodes also added that there would be a special guest referee for the big match.

Cody Rhodes announced that LA Knight would be returning to NXT to serve as the special guest referee for the match.
