What Happened After WWE Royal Rumble 2024 Went Off The Air WWE

Here’s what happened with Cody Rhodes after Saturday’s (January 27) WWE Royal Rumble 2024 premium live event went off the air.

Following this weekend’s eventful show, we’re officially on the road to WrestleMania 40.

Two stars who have secured their spots at the April 6-7 event are Bayley and Cody Rhodes, who both won Royal Rumble matches to earn title shots at WrestleMania.

With the men’s Rumble headlining the show, WWE Royal Rumble 2024 ended with the American Nightmare standing tall in the ring.

Cody Rhodes addressed the Tropicana Field crowd after the cameras stopped rolling, to apologise for not finishing his story at WrestleMania 39.

Thanking the fans in attendance for making the Tampa Bay area ‘Cody territory’, Rhodes said:

“Tampa, St. Pete, Did you have a great time tonight? Guys I owe you an apology. I am sorry about what happened at WrestleMania 39. But we’re going to WrestleMania 40.

“It’s been a long night I won’t keep you here, an amazing show, an amazing crew, an amazing production.

“Sometimes when I come to Tampa, when I come to St Pete, sometimes I try and stay and keep to myself, the reason is – this is Dusty territory. So I thank you very much, for making it a Cody territory.

“I love you guys all so much. Have a great night and I’ll see you next time.”

This marked Rhodes’ second straight Royal Rumble win, with the American Nightmare winning the 2023 iteration of the match, before unsuccessfully challenging for Roman Reigns’ WWE Undisputed Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39.

Roman Reigns has now reacted to Cody Rhodes’ Royal Rumble victory, which you can read about right here.
