“Are You Kidding Me?” – Dominik Mysterio Unhappy After WWE WrestleMania 42 Loss To Finn Balor WWE

Dominik Mysterio is not happy after losing to Finn Balor at WWE WrestleMania 42, and he’s made his feelings very clear.

Not only were the odds stacked against Dominik Mysterio, with the Judgment Day member set to face “The Demon” Finn Balor on Night 2 of WrestleMania 42, but he would find out he was going to be in a Street Fight ahead of the April 20 match at the Allegiant Stadium.

Steel chair and kendo sticks would play into proceedings, with a Coup De Grace through a table being the moment in which Balor saw victory.

Mysterio would be less than happy with how things went down in backstage comments shared with Jackie Redmond on the WrestleMania 42 Sunday post-show, stating:

“Are you kidding me, Jackie? First of all, I wasn’t even supposed to wrestle “The Demon”! I was supposed to wrestle Finn Balor. It was in the contract – Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio.

“And, then Adam Pearce went over and added all these stipulations, with The Demon and now with the Street Fight. Are you kidding me?

“This is uncalled for. This is not fair. I need to go find the Judgment Day. I need to go talk to Adam Pearce.”

Redmond would choose that moment to ask Mysterio what he thought of Rhea Ripley becoming the new WWE Women’s Champion, with the Judgment Day member commenting on Liv Morgan’s win the night before, stating:

“Are you kidding me? Liv Morgan won yesterday. She’s the greatest Women’s World Champion of all time.”

Across both nights, it wasn’t a great time for Judgment Day, Liv Morgan’s victory over Stephanie Vaquer aside, with JD McDonagh also being unsuccessful in the six-man ladder match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship that saw Penta retain.

The Demon Done Right?

Dominik Mysterio just couldn’t catch a break with the addition of the Street Fight stipulation to the match with “The Demon” incarnation of Finn Balor.

Proposed as a more dangerous incarnation of Balor, The Demon has been brought out on a number of occasions since the star signed in 2014, with few losses under the guise in both NXT and on the main roster. It could be argued that The Demon is a mountain to climb for any opponent, with Balor only tapping into that part of his psyche for major matches.

An unstoppable entity, very much like The Undertaker before his WrestleMania streak was broken by Brock Lesnar, the match against Dominik Mysterio proved that, when delivered creatively, The Demon has legs in WWE as a marquee moment, brought out when circumstances demand it, instead of being a sideshow attraction.

Balor, in his own right, has been a consistent performer for years in WWE, despite not having held a singles championship since April 2022, and it would certainly be a missed opportunity if another run now that he’s put Dominik Mysterio behind him isn’t in his future.

Whether that future would see him compete for a title as The Demon remains to be seen. Regardless of the plans, it shouldn’t be the sort of character to be overused, though.
