‘Mami Is Back On Top’ – IYO SKY Comments On Rhea Ripley WWE Women’s Championship Win At WrestleMania 42 WWE

Rhea Ripley is, once again, the WWE Women’s Champion following WrestleMania 42, and IYO SKY is very happy at the outcome.

Night 2 of WrestleMania 42 saw Rhea Ripley overcome Jade Cargill to become a two-time WWE Women’s Champion, despite the efforts of B-Fab and Michin.

With IYO SKY supporting her RHIYO teammate during the match, preventing Cargill’s associates from disrupting proceedings, Ripley would eventually slip out of Jaded, hitting her Riptide and scoring the win.

SKY has taken to Twitter to share her pride at Ripley after WrestleMania 42, tweeting:

“Mami is back on top at the biggest show of WWE!!!!!!!🥹🙌🏻

The recent victory sees Ripley as a two-time champion for all the main roster women’s titles, having previously also held the Women’s World Championship and the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

On Top, Where Rhea Ripley Belongs

There’s little doubt that Rhea Ripley has always been championship-bound, particularly following her reinvention in the Mae Young Classic of 2018 that saw a more aggressive star replace the bright and bubbly face fans saw the year before.

The first-ever NXT UK Women’s Champion, Ripley would see her first Royal Rumble appearance in 2019, before being moved to the NXT later that year and competing at Survivor Series in brand warfare. Topping off that year, Ripley became NXT Women’s Champion, continuing to dominate the women’s division and arguably setting the standard.

Such has been the popularity of Ripley that she was able to defend the NXT Women’s Championship, a first for the brand, at WrestleMania 36, losing to Charlotte Flair on April 5, 2020. They’d face each other again at WrestleMania 39, albeit with Flair losing the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Ripley in 2023.

A main roster call-up in March 2021 wouldn’t slow down any of Ripley’s development as a top star of the future, amply demonstrating her ability to stand toe-to-toe with top talent on the main roster, many of whom had come through NXT.

Whether it be her membership of Judgment Day, her alliance with Nikki A.S.H (now back to being Nikki Storm, and a current member of Wyatt Sicks), or her current friendship with IYO SKY, Ripley has continued to be a notable presence on WWE television, being as comfortable as a threatening force as she is in lighter moments.
