WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry has shared high praise for CM Punk vs Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42, calling it the best match since another famous main event.
The final match of WrestleMania 42 Night Two on April 19 saw Roman Reigns defeat CM Punk to become World Heavyweight Champion after almost 34 minutes of action.
In a video he shared on Twitter, Mark Henry called this main event the best match he has seen since The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 26.
Believing that Reigns and Punk went above and beyond, Henry said:
“I just want to let y’all know that this is the best match that I’ve seen since since Taker (and) Shawn Michaels’ last match.
“I was excited, you didn’t know where it was going, either way, who was gonna win, who was gonna lose. It was like watching Rakim freestyle against KRS-One, Kendrick Lamar or something like that.
“It was just really elite, above and beyond wrestling. Everything that they did worked, even when things didn’t work and they both went down, that was a win for us as fans.
“Roman can’t do anything but have respect for Punk. He wanted him to be in shape, he was in shape.”

Henry reiterated this sentiment in the post’s caption, writing:
#ANDNEW – that’s right. Roman Reigns has defeated CM Punk in the WrestleMania main event and this is the best match in my mind since HBK-Taker, End of an Era.
WrestleMania 26 in 2010 was headlined by a high-stakes match, with The Undertaker wagering his WrestleMania win streak against Shawn Michaels’ in-ring career.
Following this match, Undertaker defeated Triple H at WrestleMania 27 and 28 to keep his streak alive, with the latter match refereed by Shawn Michaels, ending the storyline promoted by WWE as the “End of an Era”.
The Deadman was ultimately victorious, with Shawn Michaels subsequently stepping away from the ring for good, bar a one-off return at Crown Jewel 2018 to team with Triple H against Kane and The Undertaker.
Following Reigns’ title win, Oba Femi – who defeated Brock Lesnar earlier on in the show – called out the new champion during the WrestleMania 42 Sunday post-show.
Reigns responded to Femi later on in the show, saying that they’ll see how well the recent NXT call-up does over the summer.
After defeating The Beast, it will be interesting to see how WWE handles Oba Femi moving forward. It’s a good sign that the Nigerian star’s name is already in the mouth of Roman Reigns, and a Summer clash being teased provides WWE with enough time to build Femi’s momentum to match that of the Tribal Chief’s.
