WWE
WWE WrestleMania 42 is now officially in the books, with the second night of action wrapping up tonight in Las Vegas.
Six matches would take place on the show tonight, each with their own major implications, and putting a lot of things into perspective coming out of the show.
Here are 8 things we learned at WWE WrestleMania 42 night two.
Oba Femi Is The New Mountain To Climb In WWE
The first match of tonight’s show was the highly anticipated clash of the titans between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi, with Oba picking up the monumental victory
Oba Femi only officially arrived on the WWE main roster during the 2026 Royal Rumble match, where he was ultimately eliminated by Brock Lesnar ahead of their clash.
Oba answered Lesnar’s challenge for a match at WrestleMania, and put the Beast down, cementing him as the new most dominant force on the WWE roster.
With Oba already on a warpath, we are likely going to see him with a rocket strapped to his back over the next few months as WWE looks to create its next top star.
Brock Lesnar Retiring From WWE?
While Oba Femi scored the monumental win over Brock Lesnar, it was the post-match angle that got just as much fanfare.
After his defeat, Brock would look around the ring emotional before leaving his gloves and boots in the ring, before hugging Paul Heyman and leaving the ring to chants of ‘Thank You Brock’.
The segment seemed to imply that Lesnar had retired from WWE, though it was not officially announced that his career was over, with his status on the post-show being described as ‘future uncertain’.
There had been prior speculation and belief within the company that Lesnar would be retiring at SummerSlam in his hometown of Minneapolis.
Rhea Ripley Heads To SmackDown, RHIYO Officially Split
Another Women’s World Championship victory took place on tonight’s show, when Rhea Ripley would knock off Jade Cargill to win the WWE Women’s Championship.
Rhea would pick up the win after IYO SKY came to make the save and fight off B-Fab and Michin in Jade’s corner.
Prior to WrestleMania, RHIYO went their separate ways as Rhea moved over to SmackDown to begin her feud with Jade, which only lasted for a number of weeks before IYO became involved in the storyline herself.
However, with Rhea now the WWE Women’s Champion, she will become a full-time member of the SmackDown roster going forward.
John Cena Is A Fanhausen
After becoming one of the most popular stars on the WWE roster in just a matter of weeks since his debut, fans were anticipating what the Very Nice, Very Evil Danhausen would do at WrestleMania this year.
Danhausen would make his presence felt during tonight’s show, with him coming to the ring during John Cena’s announcement of the WrestleMania attendance numbers.
Danhausen brought out a number of mini Danhausens, who would attack Kit Wilson as Danhausen himself took out The Miz, before Danhausen would exit stage left in Danhausen fashion.
Perhaps the biggest fan of all this was John Cena, who could barely finish the segment due to laughing at Danhausen’s antics. Safe to say he’s a fanhausen.
Minimal Celebrity Involvement
Coming out of WrestleMania 42 night one, one of the main talking points was the over-reliance on celebrity involvement on the show.
From Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll’s role in the Orton vs. Rhodes match, as well as IShowSpeed’s match to open the night, celebrity moments were sprinkled all throughout the show.
On night two, Lil Yachty was the only celebrity featured in a prominent role, with him appearing at ringside for Trick Williams’ United States Championship victory over Sami Zayn.
Night two has been largely more well received by fans than the first night, so keeping celebrity involvement to a minimum seems to be for the best moving forward.
The Marquee Says Wrestling
Prior to their main event clash at WrestleMania 42, CM Punk and Roman Reigns had a number of promo battles, with CM Punk making one declarative statement; ‘the marquee says wrestling, not cinema’.
In recent years, many of WWE’s premium live event main events have been met with a mixed reception due to the overabundance of outside forces entering the match as the company looks to recapture the glory of WrestleMania XL’s main event.
The night one main event also featured this, with Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll shenanigans muddying a highly anticipated wrestling match between two of the very best in the company.
Tonight was a rare time where a WWE PLE main event was a straight up wrestling match, with two top stars fighting to see who the greatest truly was, which will hopefully be a step towards remedying the belief that every main event needs to have smoke and mirrors to be memorable.
Roman Reigns Is Full-Time Following Championship Victory
Heading into tonight’s show, many were of the belief that Roman Reigns would end up picking up the victory and walk out the new World Heavyweight Champion.
While it has been two years since Reigns’ last run on top, one major issue fans had with a potential run was Roman’s schedule, with many not wanting a part-time World Champion on the show for the next few months.
However, that does not appear to be an issue with this run, as Roman appeared on the WrestleMania post-show, where he confirmed that he will be full-time on WWE television through the Summer.
The post-show was also noteworthy for something else major that Roman Reigns teased, however…
Oba Femi Vs. Roman Reigns At SummerSlam 2026?
After an almost instant ascent to stardom with his victory over Brock Lesnar, WWE may have telegraphed its planned SummerSlam main event just minutes after the conclusion of WrestleMania.
On the post-show, when addressing his future, Oba Femi would call out the new World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns, saying that he can ‘get some’ by the end of the year.
Roman would then address Oba’s challenge, saying that he would ‘see how he would do through the Summer’ before seeing if he can step to him.
With Roman naming the vague ‘Summer’ timeline for both the challenge and his previously mentioned full-time run, WWE at least wants us believe that they have their SummerSlam match locked in; Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi.
