WWE’s Nikki Bella Confirms Ankle Sprain, Tear & Fracture After WrestleMania 42 WWE

WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella has shared an update on her injury after not wrestling in her scheduled match at WrestleMania 42.

There had been a lot of uncertainty surrounding Nikki Bella’s status for the Women’s Tag Team Championship match on April 18, with reports indicating that the situation was “too close to call” following the former Divas Champion suffering an ankle injury on the March 27 SmackDown episode.

While Nikki had stated one night prior that she still planned to wrestle, these comments appear to have been to hide the surprise, with Paige ultimately making her return to team with Brie Bella in Nikki’s place.

Nikki Bella has since shared a video of her injured ankle on Twitter, which you can view right here.

Confirming that she suffered a sprain, tear and fracture to her ankle, she wrote:

I’ll finally fill you all in soon 💔

Fractured, tore and sprained my ankle. It’s been a painful two weeks.

Paige commented on her WWE return on the WrestleMania 42 Saturday Post Show, stating that WWE is her home, and that she’s a WWE girl forever.

Also during this show, Nikki Bella confirmed that she had surgery two weeks ago.

Paige and Brie Bella were ultimately victorious, defeating Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss, Bayley & Lyra Valkyria, and champions Nia Jax & Lash Legend to win the Women’s Tag Team Title in Paige’s first WWE match since December 2017.

As exciting as it was to see Paige wrestling in a WWE ring again, it’s hard not to feel for Nikki Bella, who had made it no secret that she wanted to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Brie Bella throughout her 2025 return run, ahead of Brie’s in-ring comeback at Royal Rumble in January.

While it would’ve been a full-circle moment to see both Bella Twins holding the gold at WrestleMania 42, the duo eventually winning the gold together at a future event will now feel more satisfying, following this adversity.

We wish Nikki Bella a safe and healthy recovery.
