Trick Williams Wins WWE United States Championship At WrestleMania 42 With Help From Lil Yachty WWE

With Lil Yachty in his corner, Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn to win the WWE United States Championship at WrestleMania 42.

As expected, Williams was the fan favorite during the match, with Zayn playing more towards the heel side as has been hinted at in recent weeks.

As Zayn was setting up for a Helluva Kick after taking advantage of the referee checking on Williams with a cheap shot, Yachty got up in the corner to prevent him from doing so.

Williams landed one spin kick that didn’t get the job done, but shortly after, he landed the Trick Shot and then got the pin for the win.

Trick Williams Has ‘Quite The Future’ In WWE

By Dave Adamson

A new WWE United States Champion was crowned at WrestleMania 42, with Trick Williams gaining his first main roster title.

With a main roster call-up that would see Trick Williams sign with SmackDown in January of this year, the rise of the former NXT Champion saw him victorious in his first WrestleMania moment, defeating Sami Zayn to become the new United States Champion.

While Mark Henry may have stated that Williams was cursed after dropping Zayn on SmackDown and standing tall with the title he would go on to win, that’s certainly not how it ended at WrestleMania 42. Taking on the veteran star, Williams demonstrated every aspect of the confidence he has shown throughout his time in WWE, going toe-to-toe with an equally aggressive opponent.

The first main roster title that Williams has held, Zayn’s reign as WWE United States Champion came to an end after 22 days, with a victory over Carmelo Hayes on March 27 kicking off his second run. The possibility of Hayes being added to the WrestleMania 42 match would have been a “beautiful moment” according to Williams, with the idea of the two facing each other down the line an intriguing prospect.

A two-time NXT Champion, Williams also held the NXT North American Championship, and is a former TNA World Champion, with this latest title win setting him up for quite the future on the main roster.
