Cody Rhodes New WWE WrestleMania 40 Plans Revealed

Cody Rhodes New WWE WrestleMania 40 Plans Revealed WWE

An update has emerged on WWE’s plans for Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40, following his controversial segment with Roman Reigns on SmackDown.

With The Rock and Cody Rhodes previously teasing matches against Roman Reigns, there had been a lot of speculation about plans for the Tribal Chief at the April 6-7 show.

This speculation quietened down with Rhodes’ Royal Rumble victory, as many expected him to issue a challenge for Reigns’ WWE Undisputed Universal Title, the championship he vowed to win to honor his late father Dusty Rhodes.

Rhodes has now stated that he won’t face Reigns at WrestleMania however,  with the American Nightmare making this announcement on Friday’s (February 2) edition of SmackDown.

With The Rock then entering the ring for a stare down with Reigns, it was heavily suggested that this match will headline WrestleMania 40.

Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, “numerous WWE sources” have confirmed that The Rock vs Roman Reigns is expected to be officially announced during Thursday’s (February 8) WrestleMania Kickoff event in Las Vegas.

The report also noted that the new plan for Cody Rhodes is for him to face current World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40.

PWInsider was also told this was not done to “politic” Cody out of his main event out of malice, the change was made because of the belief that The Rock would make the most money, and to respect The Rock’s new position in WWE’s parent company TKO Group.

A rumor killer has also emerged on WWE’s plans for Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, which you can read more about right here.
