Details Revealed Of Extra ‘Freedom’ WWE Stars Are Being Given WWE

Drew McIntyre has opened up on the development of his character in recent months on WWE TV, revealing how he and other stars have been afforded more “freedom”.

Since the beginning of Autumn 2023, Drew McIntyre’s WWE character has slowly evolved into a version of himself unlike what fans had gotten used to in recent years.

Building off both his achievements and shortcomings throughout his WWE career, McIntyre has become a more fleshed out and engaging character – someone, who despite turning heel, also has had many justifiable motivations, as well as hypocrisies.

Speaking to Gorilla Position in a new interview, McIntyre discussed the change in his character and why he felt evolving from the “same ol Drew” was necessary:

“Obviously I’ve loved what I’ve done since I returned to WWE, (but) it got to a point where I knew we have to evolve. It doesn’t feel like the right fit anymore.”

“I didn’t come here to make up the numbers, I came here to be top of the card and make a true difference to the show.”

McIntyre then gave an insight into how WWE’s approach to promos has changed, with a greater opportunity to take risks and express creativity compared to before.

McIntyre explained:

“There’s more than one way to do it and now it’s very much ‘Let’s throw things against the wall, the more you kill it, the more freedom you’re gonna get. That’s the way it should be and that’s the way it used to be.”

McIntyre is just over two weeks away from finally achieving his goal of winning a world title in front of a packed stadium of fans, as he goes one-on-one with Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins on WrestleMania 40 Night Two (April 7).
