More details have emerged on an unplanned spot between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023.
During the August 5 event, Lesnar and Rhodes faced off in their third match of the year, following Rhode’s victory at Backlash and Lesnar’s win at Night of Champions.
The American Nightmare was ultimately victorious, pinning The Beast to win the rubber match.
Following the bout, Lesnar took his gloves off to shake Rhodes’ hand, before uncharacteristically embracing him.
During the post show press conference, Triple H stated that this surprising moment was completely unplanned.
PWInsider has now confirmed that this moment had not been scripted into the show ahead of time.
The report also noted that Brock Lesnar left the arena following his bout to fly home.
It had been heavily speculated ahead of the event that Brock Lesnar vs Cody Rhodes III would have a special stipulation.
A couple of stipulation bouts did take place at the event, with Shayna Baszler defeating Ronda Rousey in an MMA Rules match, and Roman Reigns besting Jey Uso in Tribal Combat.
Details on creative issues surrounding the MMA Rules match have been revealed, which you can read more about at this link.
