Bianca Belair’s record setting Raw Women’s Championship reign came to an end back at Night of Champions, when Asuka pinned her to become the new champion.
Following her victory, Asuka has been presented with a new championship, the WWE Women’s Championship, which has been the target for both Bianca and Charlotte Flair.
Asuka and Charlotte fought for the title on SmackDown last week, with Bianca getting involved to cause a no contest, seemingly setting up a three-way between the women for SummerSlam.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), the creative plans for Charlotte Flair have been in place since prior to her return to the company.
Specifically, Fightful was told that Charlotte being involved with Bianca Belair and Asuka was set before her return.
The report notes that the idea around the story was to re-establish Asuka by having her involved with two of the division’s top stars chasing her for the title, rather than the other way around, as a way to add more intrigue and suspense to her reign.
Charlotte and Bianca are not the only women looking to take Asuka’s title, with IYO SKY capturing the Women’s Money In The Bank briefcase.
There has been a rumour killer on a pitch for Charlotte Flair at Money In The Bank, which you can see here.
