With the second annual AEW Continental Classic recently kicking off, a new update has emerged regarding the tournament’s inaugural winner Eddie Kingston.
The Mad King has been out of action since May, when he suffered a serious knee injury during a Last Man Standing match with Gabe Kidd at NJPW STRONG Resurgence.
It was confirmed afterwards that Kingston had suffered a tibular fracture as well as a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee, with the former Continental Champion undergoing surgery in July.
A 2025 return was projected after Kingston suffered the injury and now PWInsider have provided a new update as to how Kingston’s recovery is going.
According to the report Kingston is “furiously pushing himself” through physical therapy in an attempt to make an AEW return as soon as possible.
Despite Kingston’s efforts to accelerate his return, PWInsider noted that he has been “warned” by doctors that he likely won’t be cleared for a return until June 2025.
PWInsider reached out to Kingston for comment, who simply responded:
“Health insurance is a scam”.
We will provide further updates on Kingston’s return as/when they become available.
