Former WWE Star Shoots On Booking Of Women’s Tag Team Championships

Pretty much since their inception in 2019, WWE hasn’t really showed much care about the Women’s Tag Team Championships. At times it has almost felt like WWE has forgotten that the tag titles are even a thing.

However, WWE has recently seemingly started to care more about the tag titles. Not only did Sasha Banks and Bayley defeat Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross to capture the belts during the main event of last week’s SmackDown, but the belts were featured in both the opening and closing matches from this week’s Raw.

While many fans were fond of WWE’s decision to put the belts onto Bayley and Sasha, current WWE star Ember Moon, who is out with a potentially career-ending injury, as stated that she wasn’t a fan of the decision, claiming that their story didn’t need the belts.

Former Divas and NXT Women’s Champion Paige also weighed in on the debate, claiming that Banks and Bayley don’t need the belts. She also went on to add that she wasn’t too fond of how WWE has booked the titles thus far:

|I feel like the tag team championship haven’t been utilize to their full potential, considering everyone that’s had them. I feel like they’re not being defended. I don’t think they’ve been used right, they’ve kind of been thrown under the rug. They’re not being taken very seriously and I just feel like at some point they have to be taken seriously because this is such a big moment for the women’s division to have these tag team titles — instead of just having one championship. Now we have a tag team division and we could utilize so many of the tag teams we have, even down in NXT or up in RAW and SmackDown. Bayley and Sasha — they’re good, they’re solid, we all love them, but let’s try and build some other people.”

This weekend at Backlash, Sasha Banks and Bayley will defend their straps against former champions The IIconics and Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross in what has the potential to be a rather fun three-way match.
