After already capturing the longest title reign in the history of the company, now GUNTHER has made even more WWE history.
With the clock striking midnight, WWE fans everywhere said goodbye to 2023 and ushered in a brand new year.
The new year holding another history making moment for GUNTHER as he joins a select group of Intercontinental Champions who held the title through a complete calendar year.
With Wrestling Stats & Info noting on Twitter that GUNTHER’s 2023 reign adds him to a list that includes only Pedro Morales, Ultimate Warrior, Razor Ramon and Jeff Hardy.
Years that began and ended with one Intercontinental Champion having an interrupted reign throughout the calendar year hasn’t happened since 2007 when Jeff Hardy captured the distinction.
GUNTHER has had a landmark year in WWE, not only holding the IC title throughout but also participating in top matches throughout, including the show stealing triple-threat match at WrestleMania 39 against Drew McIntyre and Sheamus.
Recently GUNTHER has welcomed his first son with wife and former NXT UK star Jinny, explaining the real world rationale for his upcoming on-screen absence.
GUNTHER taking some time off was explained in storyline simply that he was such a dominant champion, he was taking a vacation.
Cheers to GUNTHER on his continued historic WWE run and of course, becoming a Father.
