Rumors have been circulating for a while now and it’s looking more likely than ever that indie sensation Matt Riddle is on his way to WWE.
The usually reliable Evolve Champion has made headlines recently by canceling indie bookings over SummerSlam and NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV weekend. His latest revoke has come for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla where the former UFC star was due to compete at the company’s Battle of Los Angeles event in mid-September.

According to Triple H, the reason WWE hasn’t made an approach to the star beforehand is thanks to his brace of drug test failures in 2013, while the man of the hour has actually spoken out on why he’s not thrilling audiences in NXT already. The following excerpt was taken from an interview with the Irish Mirror:
“I think the reason I was fired from the UFC [failing two drug tests within a year] is probably holding me back from signing for WWE. But at the same time the fact I’m not a UFC fighter or a WWE Superstar isn’t exactly ‘holding me back’, it’s given me opportunities.”
The timing of his cancellations has led many to believe that Riddle will be unveiled in customary fashion at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, either in the front row or as a run-in. Adam Cole with his NXT North American Championship isn’t exactly fighting away challengers. A feud between the two once the leader of Undisputed Era is done with the marvelous Ricochet would yield winners all around.
