Konosuke Takeshita captured the AEW International Championship at Double or Nothing, before being betrayed by the returning Kyle Fletcher.
Over the past six months, a rivalry had begun brewing within the Don Callis Family between Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada, with Okada continuing to undermine Takeshita.
The two faced off in the semi-final of the Continental Championship at AEW Worlds End, with Okada picking up the win, while tensions between the two continued to escalate.
Ahead of AEW Dynasty, Don Callis told Takeshita and Okada that they would be teaming together at the event against the Young Bucks, with Takeshita only agreeing to do so if he got a shot at Okada’s International Championship at Double or Nothing.

Tensions between Okada and Takeshita continued to escalate after the match, until Kyle Fletcher made his return from injury, confronting the group.
Fletcher would stand side by side with Takeshita as the Don Callis Family backed away, with Protoshita embracing in the middle of the ring.
However, Fletcher would end up dropping Takeshita with a clothesline after, officially betraying his partner and leaving with the rest of the Don Callis Family.
New Influx Of Top Stars In AEW Right Now
AEW has a number of talents right now who are on the cusp of breaking out – and a number of young names who already have.
MJF made a point in a recent interview to say that a big difference between WWE and AEW is AEW has young stars who are stars now, whereas in WWE, a lot of the young talents are seen as ‘projects’ for the future.
AEW’s recent World Title scene, surrounded by MJF himself, Darby Allin, Will Ospreay, Hangman Page and others, generally skews around high 20s to low 30s in age, which is about 10 years younger that WWE’s World Title scenes lately.
And that’s not to mention names like Kyle Fletcher, Kevin Knight and Konosuke Takeshita who are soon to break into that World Title level.
AEW is in a very good place right now when it comes to the future of its main event scene, and as long as it can hold onto those talents for years to come, there could be some exciting times ahead.
