AEW President Tony Khan has addressed Kevin Knight’s heel turn at Double or Nothing, with Knight attacking Darby Allin following the main event.

The final match of the May 24 pay-per-view saw MJF become a three-time AEW World Champion, defeating Darby Allin to win back the gold after 23 minutes of action.

Following the bout, Kevin Knight chased MJF away while the medical team loaded Allin onto a stretcher. While Allin was being stretchered away, Knight hit the now-former champion with a splash, with the show going off the air with Knight standing over Allin.

During the post-show media scrum, Tony Khan stated that he has such a high opinion of Kevin Knight.

Teasing plans for Knight on Dynamite, Khan said:

“‘The Jet’ Kevin Knight is one of the top young stars in the sport. We’d seen him come out and try to pump up Darby. I think Kevin wanted to get back in the ring with Darby and fight Darby again, because Kevin has been on fire.

“We saw Kevin beat MJF, Kevin’s beaten some of the biggest names in wrestling. He’s a great, great TNT Champion. That may have been unexpected from him, to have The Jet come out and do that.

“I think we need to hear it from him, so I’ll be interested this week to hear what Kevin has to say for himself. I think the world of The Jet, I have such a high opinion of him. I think we’ll have to wait and see what The Jet has to say for himself.”

Knight currently holds the TNT Championship, which he won in a Casino Gauntlet match at AEW Dynasty in April following Kyle Fletcher vacating the title due to injury.

Since then, he successfully defended his gold against MJF on the April 29 Dynamite episode, and unsuccessfully challenged Darby Allin for the AEW World Title on the May 6 show.

While Knight has experienced success in other promotions – being a two-time IWGP Jr Heavyweight Tag Team Champion alongside KUSHIDA in NJPW – The Jet has received a sizeable push in AEW which could be considered star-making.

Tony Khan previously named Knight as a star he believes has what it takes to become a world champion in AEW, along with Willow Nightingale.

With Kevin Knight on the singles run of his career, it will be interesting to see how high this Jet ultimately soars.
