Former WWE star Mike Rallis (fka Riddick Moss) has recalled coming scarily close to suffering a neck injury during a match with Drew McIntyre

With neck injuries sadly cutting short many careers over the years in pro wrestling, former WWE star Mike Rallis considers himself “lucky” to have avoided being seriously hurt during his match with Drew McIntyre at Elimination Chamber 2022.

The spot in question saw McIntyre his Rallis with a reverse Alabama Slam, however, due to the then Madcap Moss tucking his chin whilst taking the move, he landed right on the top of his head, leading to WWE official Jessika Carr to immediately check on him. Despite how bad the landing looked, Rallis thankfully avoided injury and was then able to finish the match.

Speaking to O’Hara & Friends Wrestling, Rallis recalled what happened in the match, and the reaction to his landing from his then tag partner Baron Corbin, and those backstage:

“It was towards the end of the match, I knew the move didn’t go right but I felt fine. Right away the ref, Jess (Jessika Carr), came to check on me, she was like ‘Are you ok?’ I was like ‘Yeah, yeah I’m fine.’ And then she went back, talked to the back and said ‘Yeah, he says he’s ok, and I saw her go ‘Are you sure?’ They were like ‘Check him a few times.’

“I remember (Baron) Corbin said that he was on the outside going ‘Oh my god, I’m going to have to finish this match. What do I need to do?’ And then I just was fine and we kept going.”

Rallis’ wife, fellow former WWE star Tenille Dashwood (Emma) then said:

“The adrenaline kicked in. You were lucky you weren’t injured after.”

Despite not feeling in pain after the spot, upon returning to the back and seeing the still image of his nasty landing, Rallis decided to get his neck checked out:

“I had a sore neck afterwards. There was no damage or anything. I know I was on the outside and Drew was throwing me over the announce table or something, and I heard Corey Graves say ‘I don’t even know how he’s walking right now.’ And I thought, ‘Hmm, maybe that was a little worse than I thought.’

“And then I got to the back and I was like ‘Guys, I’m fine I swear,’ and they showed me the high def frame by frame where my neck just crunched, and I was like ‘Alright, let’s go check this thing out’ because that was nasty, and I need to call my mom to make sure she knows I’m ok, cuz yeah that was disgusting. In the moment it wasn’t that bad.”

Rallis would then make clear that if he did get hurt, he wouldn’t have thought continuing the match was the correct thing to do, imploring other wrestlers or athletes to not to get the wrong idea if they find themselves in a similar situation:

“I got lucky. It ended up being a reputational boost for me. But really, anytime  I talk about it I want to stress, if I was hurt, it wouldn’t have been cool or smart of me to go on and keep performing. Like if you are hurt it’s not worth it. If you do have a concussion, if you do have a neck injury where something isn’t feeling right, whether it’s sport or wrestling, you can always work around that injury, it’s not worth it.”

Rallis, along with his wife Tenille Dashwood continued wrestling for WWE until they were both released from the company in September 2023. Both have been largely inactive in wrestling since then aside from making a few independent appearances between them in 2024.
