WWE has filed a new trademark with the United States Patent & Trademark Office that looks to be for a new ring name.

Before new talents debut on WWE or NXT TV, their new ring names will usually be trademarked by the company in the days or weeks leading up to it.

WWE has now filed a trademark for ‘Bakusai’ with the following description, which is the typical description for ring name trademarks:

Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment

There’s no word on who the new name will be used by, though one guess could former NJPW star Hiromu Takahashi who reportedly joined WWE around the same time as Naraku, but has yet to debut.

Bakusai is the name of a news bulletin website in Japan, while Bakusai Tenketsu is the name of a martial arts technique originating from China.

Naraku teased that he could potentially bring backup for his NXT Championship match against Tony D’Angelo at WWE Great American Bash tomorrow night, so Bakusai could be the name of whoever comes to help him out, whether that’s Takahashi or someone else.

It’s also possible it could be the name of a new faction led by Naraku, but the wording of the filing description suggests it’ll be the name of an individual rather than a group.
