Impact Review – April 19, 2018

This Is Not What I Expected

Perhaps the most exciting thing about this inter-gender match was the announcement that Fallah Bahh will have a new t-shirt in the Impact store or perhaps the fact I had forgotten that Braxton Sutter was bald because he’s always wearing that stupid hat.

I’ve not been impressed with the way that they’ve thrown Su Yung up to the top, with an instant shot at the title. There’s no good way for her to lose that match on Sunday without her losing a lot of her momentum – she’s not been in the promotion long enough to be protected.

The match was clumsy, with the usual Fallah Bahh spots before the women got into the match. Obviously, this match was supposed to be all about Su Yung, but Kiera Hogan actually put on a great display of her abilities here leaving me at least somewhat impressed with what she has to offer.

Unfortunately, this match was the wrong match for everyone. Su Yung needed to show a more dominant display before her bout on Sunday, and Fallah Bahh needs to stay in slow-paced matches or comedy matches. Braxton Sutter, on the other hand, needs to not be on TV at all.

Su Yung not being dominant is a problem because she had been dominant over the last few weeks – it makes it feel a bit like she’s really not ready for Sunday. Her need to resort to cheating, using a kendo stick, reinforced this idea. Winning off a distraction wasn’t great for her either – the character we got this week was not the character we have had over the past few weeks.

The attack from Allie after the match also made no sense for the characters and made Yung look even weaker as she was only able to survive the attack thanks to Braxton. Allie looks pretty great going into the weekend, which means she’ll probably lose the title; which would be a shame.
