A viral moment took place on last night’s episode of AEW Rampage, when the crowd showered Anthony Bowens with chants of ‘He’s Gay!’.
The chants came after Bowens told Harley Cameron of QTV that he was gay after she insisted that Bowens was ‘into her’.
The segment has gone viral as a positive outlook on wrestling fans being more accepting of wrestlers, and there has now been more information on the segment.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), the segment was largely put together by Billy Gunn and QT Marshall.
Marshall had spoken with Bowens prior to the segment about proclaiming he was gay, and whether he was comfortable with it, with Bowens said to have been all for it.
At one point, the segment was scheduled to take place on Dynamite, as the Acclaimed had previously mentioned they would be on the show.
Fightful notes that the segment was moved to Rampage in order to give it the time that it needed.
The segment was also notable for featuring the return to AEW of Johnny TV, the former John Morrison, who previously wrestled for the company as Johnny Elite.
