The “Iron Claw” actors say they are open to wrestling if asked.
“Iron Claw” is the story of the Von Erich family and is set to premiere in theaters on December 22.
The film will star Zac Efron playing Kevin Von Erich, Jeremy Allan White playing Kerry Von Erich and James Dickinson as David Von Erich. In preparation for the film, the actors trained with Chavo Guerrero for the wrestling portion of the move.
Speaking to EW, Efron, White and Dickson were asked if they would ever step in the ring for real. White replied:
“Oh, I would jump in,”
Dickinson responded to the question, answering:
“I would love to. Do you remember at the end of the shoot? We were like, ‘Should we try and do this for real?'”
White replied:
“We went to Sean and were like, ‘Sean, call them! Tell them we’re ready!'”
Efron added by telling the interviewer to call WWE, saying:
“Yeah, call WWE! Say we’re going to do it!”
All three men bursted into laughter thinking about that thought. There was a brief pause before Dickinson turns to the others with a slightly more serious look. He said:
“Honestly, would you do it if they asked you?”
White gave an immediate “F*** yeah” nodding his head in approval. He and Dickinson then looked at Efron who stopped to consider and said:
“Only if all you guys were there.”
Speaking about the reality in the story of the Von Erichs, Efron said:
“It just doesn’t seem like this could all happen to one family. There’s a huge element of the movie that’s, of course, about wrestling and the showmanship aspect.”
“But really, at its core, this movie’s an incredible story about family, love, loss, and ultimately the triumph of a man who tries to break the cycle of this crazy curse.”
Current AEW stars MJF and Ryan Nemeth will also star in “Iron Claw”. Friedman will play Lance Von Erich in the film while Ryan Nemeth is cast as Gino Hernandez.
MJF is set to defend the AEW World Championship against Jay White on November 18 at AEW Full Gear. For the full lineup for the show, click here.
