James Ellsworth Thanks WWE!

James Ellsworth Thanks WWE!

James Ellsworth was fired on SmackDown Live by General Manager Paige on Tuesday evening and his WWE departure is causing waves across social media. Some agree with the decision saying he could have done no more in the company, while others believe he should have been kept for comedic value.

While his release could and most probably is all a work – WWE.com have yet to wish him well in his future endeavors – Ellsworth has been working on a handshake deal since his return at Money in the Bank. This has allowed him to skip live events and work indie dates during the week.

Taking to Twitter, the chinless wonder expressed his gratitude to WWE for the opportunity granted to him. It’s elevated him from jobber to star.

Believing the door to still be open, he has begun a hashtag to get the wheels rolling on his return.

If this is legitimately the end for the star, then he has to be considered a WWE success story. Beginning as a jobber to Braun Strowman, James rode the fan support all the way to the main event of SmackDown Live where he best WWE Champion AJ Styles three times. He was, at one time, the number one contender to WWE’s most prestigious strap, had been given major role after major role, and on the indies even competed for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

On top of all of that, his catchphrase “any many with two hands has a fighting chance” inspired people all over the world. That isn’t bad at all.

Whatever your thoughts and feelings on James Ellsworth, he has lived the dream and for that, we salute him. If this is not a work, then in some ways SmackDown Live will be a darker place without his comedy. WrestleTalk with James all the luck in the world in his…well, you know.
