Jinder Mahal made his return to Raw last week, defeating Jeff Hardy. Now, it seems he has his sights set high as he took a few shots at Drew McIntyre recently.
Appearing on WWE’s The Bump, Mahal took credit for McIntyre’s WWE Championship reign. During the interview, he said if he didn’t become WWE Champion, McIntyre wouldn’t have either. Here is the quote, courtesy of WrestleZone:
“Why am I not celebrated? I [came back and won the title] in better fashion then Drew. I bet if I didn’t become WWE Champion, Drew wouldn’t have. You know why? Because I showed him the way. I showed Drew the way. I laid the blueprint down for Drew. Drew followed the same game-plan that I did.
…I’m injured, I’m on the side-lines, Drew is celebrated. How do you think that makes me feel? You talk about what motivated me through the rehab? That, Drew McIntyre motivated me.”
Jinder Mahal was WWE Champion in 2017. During his reign, McIntyre became NXT Champion and eventually made his way back to Raw. It appeared that the two would have a rivalry last year but Mahal got injured before it could start.
