AEW Star Praises WWE’s Jinder Mahal WWE

An AEW star has praised Jinder Mahal following his recent push, noting that they’re not a Jinder hinderer.

Mahal recently returned to WWE TV for a segment with The Rock on the Day 1 edition of WWE Raw. Following this, the former WWE Champion confronted Seth Rollins on the January 8 episode, leading to the announcement that Rollins would be defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Mahal on January 15.

There was a lot of online drama following this announcement, with AEW President Tony Khan questioning Jinder Mahal’s place in the world title match.

This led to several AEW and WWE names weighing in on both companies’ booking.

Speaking on his Extreme Life With Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy noted that he always was a fan of Jinder Mahal as a person and a performer.

Believing that Mahal is a great heel, Hardy said:

“I like Jinder as a person and I also liked him as a performer, too. I thought he was an excellent heel. I thought he was good.

“I thought he really had the ability to piss people off in the most authentic way possible… I am not a Jinder hinderer.”

Recalling Mahal’s previous WWE Championship reign in 2017, Matt Hardy said:

“I thought he was getting steam as a heel. I’m not huge on the win/loss thing. I feel like wrestling is more about the story than the actual athlete’s records. That’s me though. I know not everybody’s like that.

“It is important to win, there’s times that people should win because they’re in a scenario and they’re in a story where it’s time for them to win and the blowoff to happen.

“But even when that happened, I do remember hearing his reaction at some of the events and he was very booed and people wanted to see him get beat up. So I get why they tried it…. I didn’t have an issue with it.”

Mahal ultimately came up short when challenging for Rollins’ gold during the January 15 edition of Raw.

Rollins didn’t leave the match unscathed however, with the champion reportedly suffering a knee injury during the match, leading to speculation about Rollins’ future as champion.
