‘I Had To Gain The Courage To Do It’ – John Cena Opens Up About Facing His Genuine Fears While Filming For Upcoming Hollywood Movie

17-time WWE world champion John Cena has opened up about facing genuine fears while filming for an upcoming movie.

John Cena was announced in September 2024 to be starring in “Matchbox: The Movie”, a film based on the Mattel toy car brand of the same name.

Speaking with Extra at San Diego Comic Con, John Cena stated that he was personally involved with a lot of the practical action and stunts, something he said he had to find the courage for.

Hinting that one of his stunts involved him jumping off a building, John Cena said:

“This one was a lot more facing my genuine fear, just because of the practical action that’s there. It’s kind of got to be me because of the way we shoot it, the way Sam Hargrave does the action.

“Stuff that isn’t exactly my favorite, I had to gain the courage to do. Sam Hargrave was a man that I wanted to do it for, because he’s a great human being, and I can say with confidence, I’ll jump off a building for him, because I did that s**t.

Sharing more details about his character, John Cena added:

“I can tell you that the major struggle in his life is being drawn between his professional obligation and his loving connections.

“I think that’s something that a lot of us go through, do I put more in at work, or do I put more in personal connections?”
