Jon Moxley Discusses How Wrestling Has Evolved & Become More Gritty AEW

Jon Moxley has discussed how wrestling has evolved and become more gritty.

Since signing with All Elite Wrestling in 2019, Jon Moxley has elevated his legacy and helped establish AEW as the home for some of the most violent professional wrestling matches ever seen on cable television, often times featuring blood.

Throughout some brutal bouts against the likes of Kenny Omega, Lance Archer, Eddie Kingston and Hangman Adam Page, Moxley has become a three-time AEW World Champion and current AEW International Champion.

Speaking with Jesse and Anna on B.105 ahead of tonight’s September 13 edition of AEW Dynamite in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, Moxley gave a hard sell for the event and his match against Big Bill. He said:

“It’s a family-friendly event. You can bring children, bring Grandma, but it is a very physical and violent sport. This particular main event is going to get very ugly.”

“If the last wrestling you’ve seen on TV is some kind of hokey cartoonish buffoonery kind of thing years ago on the teleivsion, this is not that.”

“Pro wrestling in 2023 has evolved to something much different than people even think it is now that aren’t familiar with it. If you like sports, drama, and violence, this is a very gritty wrestling show at times.”

“A lot of times, it’s more like watching The Wire than watching what you think is a pro wrestling show. That’s what it’s going to be on Wednesday. It’s not jokes.”

“A lot is on the line, championship gold, people’s health, people’s future and legacy. It’s a hell of a dramatic night.”

Jon Moxley defeated Orange Cassidy to win the AEW International Championship at AEW All Out. Moxley will defend the title against Big Bill on tonight’s September 13 episode of AEW Dynamite.
