Kairi Sane has commented on reports of her WWE release coming after she ‘indicated’ to the company that she wanted to move back to Japan.
Kairi Sane was one of 25 confirmed names to have departed WWE during the company’s latest round of talent releases on Friday, April 24.
Kairi’s name was to many the most surprising name on the list due to her being an active part of a storyline with Asuka and IYO SKY weekly on Monday Night Raw.
Kairi Sane ‘Indicated’ To WWE She Planned To Return To Japan
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Kairi’s release came after she indicated to the company that she planned to move back to Japan.
He said:
“The Kairi thing, the reason she was cut was I think that she had kinda indicated that she wanted to move back (to Japan).
“The reality is, this is not a money issue. This company makes… whatever it is. The revenue between UFC and WWE and throwing everything in, the revenue’s in the billions of dollars.”
Kairi Sane Responds To Reported Reason For WWE Release
Taking to social media following the report, Kairi responded to the speculation surrounding her release.
She wrote:
What I can say is I know there’s been a lot of speculation, but I truly love this work, my teammates, and my fans.
I’ve never walked away, and I’ve given my all in everything I do. I hope you’re all doing well
Will Kairi Sane Return To WWE Following Fan Backlash?
With Kairi’s release coming in the midst of her ongoing storyline on Raw, her departure was the one that led to the most backlash from fans, with fans in Laredo even chanting ‘We Want Kairi’ during Asuka and IYO’s segment on last night’s show.
With R-Truth’s departure from WWE last year, he was ultimately brought back to the company just 0ver a week later due to major backlash from fans over his departure.
This has led to speculation that WWE may do the same with Kairi, potentially having her return at Backlash during the announced match between Asuka and IYO SKY.
While everything is possible in WWE, as evidenced by Truth’s return, it would likely take consistent fan backlash at live events for WWE to bring Kairi back into the fold.
