Kazuchika Okada Final NJPW Match Confirmed

Kazuchika Okada Final NJPW Match Confirmed NJPW

An update has emerged on Kazuchika Okada, with NJPW announcing the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion’s farewell matches.

It was confirmed in January that Okada would be leaving NJPW after his contract expired in early 2024.

The promotion has now announced the cards for the February 23 and 24 New Beginning in Sapporo events. The February 24 show will feature a match which is being advertised as Okada’s final bout with the promotion.

Okada is slated to team with Hiroshi Tanahashi, Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI and Tomohiro Ishii to face off against Jeff Cobb, HENARE, Great-O-Khan, Callum Newman and former WWE star Matt Riddle.

NJPW shared the following preview for the bout:

Kazuchika Okada’s final NJPW match will be in ten man action opposite an intriguing combination of Matt Riddle with the United Empire. Riddle and Jeff Cobb combined to re-form the ‘Chosen Bros’ tag team at Battle in the Valley, after which the two went, in Cobb’s words ‘to talk business’.

Does such business involve Riddle being Empire affiliated in the wake of Will Ospreay’s departure?

Tama Tonga will also bid farewell to NJPW on this show, with Tonga set to team with Tanga Loa for a tag-team match against El Phantasmo & Hikuleo.

Okada bid farewell in an emotional way at a recent NJPW event, which you can read more about right here.
