During AEW’s Double Or Nothing Ticket Announcement Party at the start of February, several new names were not only added to the upcoming pay-per-view card, but also to the fledgling promotion’s roster as well. Most notably, former IWGP Heavyweight Champion was revealed not only to be joining the promotion with his fellow Elite/Bullet Club members but also that he is taking the role of Executive Vice President.
Prior to Omega’s unveiling, however, two names from the Japanese Joshi scene were revealed in Aja Kong and Yuka Sakazaki. The ‘Cleaner’ doesn’t seem to be stopping there with his push for a diverse women’s roster either as he stated in an interview with Tokyo Sport that he is “scouting the Joshi talent.”
In the same interview, Omega went on to discuss his desire to work with Japanese promotion DDT Pro Wrestling where Sakazaki is currently one half of the Tokyo Princess Tag Team Champions alongside Mizuki. Kenny also worked with the promotion between 2008 and 2014 and is looking to “showcase the DDT style” on a new stage.
DDT Pro Wrestling President Sanshiro Tagaki responded to these comments with wide open arms, stating:
“Kenny is family, if he needs our help, he’s getting it.”
The interview quote and response have been translated by DDT’s English Twitter account below:
Kenny (in interview): I'm scouting the Joshi talent. I also wanna work with DDT again. I want to showcase the DDT style, and Yuka Sakazaki is truly one of a kind; there's no one else like her.
Takagi: Kenny is family; if he needs our help, he's getting it.#ddtpro#tjpw#AEW https://t.co/PRG6AkV4dh

This is not the first promotion to be jumping into bed with AEW. China’s Oriental Wrestling Entertainment and Mexico’s AAA have both also formed working relationships with the new brand. OWE’s CIMA, alongside two unknown partners, will be taking on SoCal Uncensored at Double Or Nothing on May 25. AAA’s Sammy Guevara and Fénix are also among AEW’s roster and will both likely participate at the upcoming pay-per-view.
